The latest smartphone in the iQOO Neo series will launch on December 20, equipped with OriginOS Ocean

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo officially released a newly upgraded operating system, OriginOS Ocean, on Thursday. Subsequently, iQOO, one of its subsidiary brands, announced that it would launch an iQOO Neo series on December 20, which would be equipped with the new operating system.

Information regarding the iQOO Neo series has already been exposed, including that the model will be equipped with the Snapdragon 888 processor, a curved screen with a hole in the center and will support fast charging of 66 W.

OriginOS Ocean introduced new customizable map-style elements on the home screen, an optimized camera user interface, and a smart nano music player. Through optimization, the balance between fluidity and energy consumption was achieved at the same time.

Vivo’s Nano Music player is still available on the OriginOS Ocean iteration. Users can control the music player with just an icon on the lock screen, allowing for a simple and non-intrusive listening experience. Users can also customize interface buttons and background colors, and interface colors and shapes will change with different types of music.

With Vivo’s nano reading, users can experience a true page-turning effect. Vivo also cooperated with Zhu Zhiwei, artistic director of Hanyi Fonts to optimize the composition, spacing, color and background of the reading app.

The Origin OS Ocean also comes with a privacy system allowing users to swipe left from the lower dock to enter their dedicated private area, after verification via a fingerprint recognition feature. Vivo adds that this private space has several layers of security through biometric verification as well as hardware-level encryption. OriginOS Ocean divides the primary user data set into five levels, thereby minimizing the collection of user information by applications.

Many new machines from Vivo and iQOO will be updated to the new system on December 30, and more models will be updated one after another before April 2022.
