Before we had apps like Apple Music and Spotify, we started with discs. The record player was first produced in 1895. But when the radio came out, people preferred a radio in their house. This was because the radio had many more features than the record player. Records began to gain popularity in the late 60s and 70s. Around this time, people began to realize that the sound created by the record player was richer and clearer than that of the radio, which led to its resurgence.
The music will always be there.
Music is very crucial for many in daily life. Many listen to music while driving and performing daily tasks and more. With the launch of music streaming services, they have ensured that the demand for records keeps decreasing. Record stores were once very popular, but as technology has advanced, many people have chosen convenience over having to just buy records and play music in one place.

Record stores help keep relevant records.
People like to collect records and listen to them. Many new artists are now releasing their new albums on vinyl records. It’s because they know people like to listen on a record player.
While interviewing one of the shoppers in the store, I asked her why she would pay money for a record rather than listen to this album on a streaming service. She said “There’s nothing more magical than putting out that new record and setting it up to play a warm, uplifting sound.”
With this new generation, it may seem like streaming services take over all aspects of music, but when you really dive into it, discs are trending up and growing in popularity. Another very famous record venue, Amoeba Hollywood. It has been open since 1990 and is very infamous in the city. Many artists enjoy the store and for what it’s worth and do meetups and smaller gigs inside the store. It has people coming to the store and also keeps them coming back.
As long as there is music, records and record stores will be there. It doesn’t matter how big the streaming services are.
