Author Jimmy Lindsey Jr.’s new book “Just Jimmy Ink” is a collection of poetry and songs that reflect the struggles of an addict and his undying love for God.

Jimmy Lindsey Jr., originally from Michigan, has completed his new book “Just Jimmy Ink”: an amazing collection of poetry and songs that deal with topics ranging from loneliness and addiction to family and redemption.

Jimmy was born in 1958 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the middle child of a family of five. He grew up in a family where abuse and arguments between his parents seemed normal, as did the constant abuse he suffered especially when his parents were drunk. Jimmy turned to sports as a way out from a young age. This is where he felt free, and he liked it. Jimmy continued to play baseball and softball at a high level until the age of forty-three. He discovered God and Jesus from an early age as he took the bus to Sunday school, and he still remembers the first Bible verse he memorized at age eight. years: John 3:16.

At the age of seven, he was saved from drowning by an angel, which only shed light on his faith and love for Jesus. By the time Jimmy was a teenager he had seen the ugly part of the world as he broke his neck playing soccer during his senior year in high school and a year later lost his best friend in a head-on collision where Jimmy was hit from driver to driver. He was driving at thirty-five and the driver of the other car was driving at seventy. Jimmy broke his back, smashed his heel through the floor, and broke his legs.

Later in life, Jimmy found himself with a bad cocaine addiction, which would test his faith and the love of his daughters, even life itself. By the age of forty-three, Jimmy had lost everything he loved. It was in a prison rehab center in 2005 that Jimmy found Jesus again, and this brought with him a passion for songwriting and poetry.

“I hope that telling my story will save another addict from losing their life,” Jimmy writes.
